Newborn photo session with big sis | Susan

Two weeks after the arrival of this precious little baby, mom Susan and I managed to arrange a time for our home newborn session with the family. Big sister was so excited to show off her sibling to me, and it was lovely getting images of the two of them together!

Susan’s mom had also arrived from overseas to meet the newest member of the family. this made for some really special moments between granny and her two granddaughters!

In-home newborn sessions like this one, taken a few days after the baby is born, is great to document how the family are settling in with the new arrival and adjusting to the new family unit. This is especially wonderful and important to capture when there are siblings - it is so nice to see how they interact with their new lifelong friend! Time flies so quickly when your little ones are so young, and every gentle touch, soft-spoken word and look of awe so easily lost amongst all the excitement and change.

Besides birth, the interaction between a family and a newborn has to be my favourite memories to document. Even when prospective clients do not want their birth photographed, I always encourage them go for a newborn package instead. After all, these early moments of family life at home is something they will cherish forever!
