C-section birth and meet-the-family sessions | Teja

Cape Town Mediclinic has an indescribable charm… The setting of this historic hospital up in the mountains is really lovely, and it’s as if the walls have a story to tell! There is an atmosphere in the maternity ward that makes this by far my favourite hospital to shoot births at.

No wonder that I was excited at the opportunity to document this couple welcoming their second daughter into this world, at the lovely Cape Town Mediclinic.

Prepped in a mask and an array of protective gear, I was thrilled at being able to capture their birth story unfold! The elective c-section went smoothly, and soon this family was a tiny, healthy little newborn richer! Seeing parents share that knowing, loving, awe-inspired look over their new baby is just spectacular, and remains one of my favourite birth moments…

You can imagine how excited their first-born daughter was to meet her baby sister! Finally, the long-awaited day arrived that little Teja was allowed to go home. It was wonderful to be able to see the warm welcome that awaited her: A wonderful celebration with gorgeous family traditions and moving prayers spoken over this sweet little girl.
