Beautiful elective c-section at Mediclinic Panorama | Tyler

It’s nearly impossible to plan your birth story… Babies come when they are good and ready, and the unpredictability of it all so often throws a spanner in the works!

That’s why I am so pleased and surprised that Lauren’s birth went to plan as perfectly as any parent (and their birth photographer!) could have hoped for!

Following a magical maternity session in the forest, things just seemed to fall right into place: The c-section was booked at the right time and we also didn’t have any unexpected situations arise that made it necessary for the birth team to adapt. Something which is fairly rare in my industry, as I am sure you can imagine…

The only minor hiccup was that until the morning of delivery, we were unsure whether the Covid numbers were low enough to grant us access into the theatre! To our great relief, our request was granted by the head of the Mediclinic Panorama theatre.

A wait here, and wait there, as many c-sections go, and before long we were scrubbed up and in theatre with Lauren.

Baby arrived at 9:31am, perfectly timed, and weighing in at a solid 4,045kg.

After theatre, dad and I went to the nursery while Lauren went to recovery. During this time I am able to capture such beautiful moments with dad getting to check out and swaddle the newest addition to the family.

Big brother was on his way now with granny and grandpa, after receiving the go-ahead to visit in hospital. Seeing his little face was absolutely priceless! I am sure looking at the images you can see how amazed he was with it all…
