What to expect as one of my exclusive clients

As a member of your birth team, it is my hope that I will be able to contribute to your experience in a positive way. Here’s what you can expect from me on this journey from pregnant to parent:

BOOKING & PERMISSION CONFIRMATION FOR BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY

There is a window period for cancellation in the event that you do not obtain permission from your health care provider. To avoid disappointment, I would like to encourage you to get the necessary permission documentation in place before the window period is over. Please forward a copy of the document for my reference if at all possible. The permission documentation must be on you on the day of birth.

BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHER EXPECTATIONS

Please note that I will do everything within my power to capture all of the most important moments of your journey. Because every birth is unique I cant offer any guarantees and I therefore also do not recommend having a ‘shot list’, however if you have specific requirements you are more than welcome to share them with me.

FIRST CONSULTATION WITH YOUR BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHER

I think it is important for us to build a trusting relationship before your special day and therefore recommend at least one in person consultation (please bring your partner with if at all possible). It is at this consultation that we will further discuss your needs, requirements and questions. Please contact me with possible dates and times that would suit you best for your first consultation.

BOOKING YOUR MATERNITY SHOOT

If you have booked a maternity session as part of your package I would suggest that we do the session before or on week 36 of your pregnancy. Please arrange and confirm a suitable date with me well in advance. I do shoots over weekends, but because most clients prefer weekends they fill up fairly quickly.

You can expect to receive a couple of immediate images from your maternity shoot within five working days of your session. The rest of your photos will be given with the delivery of your final package after birth.

BEING ON CALL FOR YOUR BIRTH

Being on call for you means that I am on call two weeks prior and two weeks after your due date given. This means that you must phone (not message) me on 072 229 0031 if you think you are in labour / need to go in for an emergency C-Section. If your estimated due date changes over the course of your pregnancy I would appreciate it if you could keep me posted. Remember to call me even if you go into labour / need a c-section before I am on call for you.  Although there are no guarantees when I am not on call, I will do my utmost to still capture your birth / arrange for a back up to do so if your birth falls outside the 4 week on call period.

MY ROLE AT YOUR BIRTH

You have employed me as your birth photographer and therefore my main priority is to capture your birth journey in a respectful and unobtrusive manner.

MEET THE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

If you have opted for a meet the family session at hospital, I will come back for this session either later on the day of the birth or the next day. I only arrange a time for this session after the birth, as feelings in terms of when visitors are wanted after birth, often change on the big day and some flexibility is required from both parties.

WELCOME HOME BABY PHOTO SESSION

These sessions cannot be booked in advance as estimated birth dates change and new parents differ in their needs when it comes to settling in with the new baby at home. Once you are ready you can arrange a time with me to come and do the session at your home, keeping in mind that mornings are generally better. I will wait for you to arrange a time with me as I do not like interrupting the honeymoon period with baby. Knowing that this can be a stressful time for moms, I do my sessions in the most relaxed manner possible which is why I have a life style approach rather that a styled / studio one.

As with your maternity shoot I will send you some immediate images of the newborn shoot within 5 working days of the session. The rest will be delivered with your final package.
