Romantic and sensuous boudoir maternity session | Lana & Marlon
When Germany and Jamaica come together and book you as their photographer it is guaranteed to lead to amazing maternity photographs!
Lana and I discussed the ideas they had in mind for their maternity shoot. Due to uncertainty regarding what the lockdown restrictions would be at her 36-37 week pregnancy mark, our options for outdoor location spots were limited. A pity, as there are truly so many beautiful options in Cape Town. Be it at the beach, in a forest, in a park, against a mountain, on a wine farm… We really are spoilt for choice!
BUT - Once Lana had shown me a few examples of the images she was looking for, I had no doubt that their home would be the perfect alternative. Not only that, but the soft and intimate images that caught her eye would be something totally unique and unforgettable!

The natural light flooded in through the windows, adding a gorgeous, almost ethereal glow to their already beautiful home (how stunning is that blue wall in the lounge?!). The couple’s playfulness and deep-rooted connection is evident. The excited anticipation surrounding the arrival of their baby girl is palpable. And if all of that isn’t enough, they just happen to be the most gorgeous couple ever!
It felt like I died and went to photography heaven…!
Any day now, I am expecting a call from them to let me know their baby is on the way. I’ll make my way back to their lovely place for a home birth with Angela Wakeford, the esteemed midwife. She was part of Birth Options for many years, which has sadly closed its doors. Thankfully, she is now practicing privately.
I cannot express my excitement about being able to photograph a home birth again - an environment that is safe and comforting for mom and dad, especially considering the Covid-situation we are all facing. No doubt it will be incredible. And I will most certainly be sharing their story with you in the next few months with their permission.
