Sun-kissed wine farm maternity session: Baby boy on the way!

Three years ago, this April, I photographed the birth of this beautiful baby girl. She came before her expected due date and had us all rushing to the hospital in time for her imminent arrival. The poor first-time parents had to drive all the way from Wellington to Stellenbosch Mediclinic - more than a tad stressful!

I arrived at the hospital as they were finishing off the admission paperwork and we were ready to go to theatre for their emergency caesarian, contractions in tow.

The excitement and anticipation at meeting their little girl is so evident in their images…

You may wonder why I’m telling you about a birth that happened three years ago… Well, I just photographed their second gorgeous pregnancy pictures this past weekend in Stellenbosch. The secluded wine farm allowed us into their stunning grounds to take some photos at sunset. We just managed to catch some soft, early evening rays before we had to head home before the 9pm Covid curfew.

As we wrapped up the session, we spoke of the possibility of hospitals reopening to birth photographers, hopefully in time for their due date in March - something that has plagued my industry for the past year... We have had optimistic feedback from the doctor, so while we wait for the green light, we agreed on maintaining a positive mindset!

We also agreed to remain NEGATIVE… Covid Negative!

For now, enjoy a selection of their gorgeous sun-kissed maternity photos, followed by some maternity and birth photos of soon-to-be-big-sis, Mira:
